moo toy studio setup

Inspired by shaun, I've decided to follow up his post on my humble studio setup exposè. There's really nothing fancy about mine, really, just the basic lights Top, Left and Right lamps with tracing paper over it to diffuse the lights. Sometimes, I will also use Photoshop CS level to adjust the appropriate lighting.


Equipment wise, there's a tripod to hold my cameras and that's about all i guess. For cameras, my favourite will be my trusty and handy "Point & Shoot" Canon IXUS-850IS and Canon DSLR 450D. Both camera is my favorite so far cos they gave me space to experiment and create different mood for the photos. 

For my (大奶) Canon IXUS, she's very reliable, faithful and has excellent setting and video mode which i often use it for my daily snapshots & youtube. The macro is excellent for zooming in the fine details of the smaller figures. However, due to recent XMM likings to photography, i decided to pass it to him :P It has served me well for "decades" so i felt it's time to pass on this "light-saber" from father to son for "educational purposes" with supervision of course hahaha...

This 4 months old (二奶) Canon D450 is my "film" mood cam, it is not so crispy and harsh like IXUS pixs but tend to have more grains and film look to it. I like to use it for my realistic figures. Her accessories are very steep so i stick to my standard kit. More pixs will follow when i bring her out for a walk when i am free hahaha....

Lastly, YES...last week i bought a new 3rd "lover" (三奶) Ricoh GX200 at John 3:16. She is actually a heavily SLR featured hidden in a slim body, upon gripping it...i was immediately succumb to the dark side. So retro and yet so chio....how to resist?!? She's poisonous (thx har mikey)...will try to post more pixs taken by her soon after exploring her body :P 

With so many lovers (奶) on hand, i think i will be very busy these few days. HAHaaaha

Sideshow's looking good with their 12inch SW figure next year

I think Sideshow is beginning to understand where's their marketing and product is heading for Starwars. Their new lineup for 12inch Star Wars next year is quite exciting and an excellent jump for medicom SW collectors. Medicom (aka Prada in 1/6) is getting over-rated and overprice nowadays with poor quality. Medicom should really just focus on their anime and manga figures lah (IMHO)Time to jump ship soon unless the economy is picking up next year? Don't want to pay such premium price for a lousy product from them anymore i guess hahahaha

the new casino royale starring daniel craig in 2007 actually makes me go back to the theaters and watch 007, hopefully this one lives up to its predecessor.

This is definitely the MUST-BUY to complete your Mark 2 & 3. Scheduled for release in 2009 April.

I hope the pix below is not what i am getting in the box in order to suit up Mark 1...the parts and accessories are a nightmare to me. Please don't make me do so much work in order to play with the toy :P

Good news, after 3 months of its official launch in Hk & China, SG finally get to see this 风云决-stormrider - clash of evil on 9-Oct. So, mai hiam liao...though SG lack the anime culture, market and priority for it's fans, at least they still get it to show on the big screen for us mah. I think some dvd shop here has the dvd liao....but i know you FengYun fans like it on the big screen (like i do) hehehe...

Sources from ENI indicated the below Marvel superheores movies coming soon during a distribution agreement with Paramount...hmm...exciting. The highly anticipated live action releases include

Holiday Eve watched Painted Skin (画皮)

Today's Holiday Eve (Hari Raya Puasa) at 1210am Singapore Time, me and my wife went to catch a new chinese movie "Painted Skin" (画皮) To me, it's really a long and tiring movie, the script is too draggy but the entire production/directing was very good, as good as hollywood except the badly composed music by a japanese (IMHO, that's what Asia movies lacks now, a good script)

This movie is a "love and demon conflict" movie but they have to "Love"overdosed in it's 3/4 of the plot till i wants to sleep. I think after editing most unneccessary/boring part, the movie movie might just run less than 30mins than it's present 103mins. 




I think Leslie Cheung's 1987 A Chinese Ghost Story (倩女幽魂) part 1 & 2 is a better "ghost love" classic during my era. Time to watch these dvds in my collection again, wonder when Hottoys will make Leslie into a M-Icon soon? :P
