Coming Soon: 12inch The Spirit by Hottoys

Images of Hottoys new requisited movie license "The Spirit" just pop in mediworld forum recently. It looks good (esp. Samuel L. Jackson as the octopus) but i think i will wait and see if i like the movie and character before deciding...(Figure ETA April 2009)

Anime Festival Asia 2008 (AFA'08) 23-Nov-2008

I always believe no expectation is better than having any...my belief worked out quite well today and I was quite surprised at the heavy turn-ups and queues even though there's an entrance fee charged. So, it proves there still "hope" for Singapore's own Anime and Toys fans :P Hopefully we will have AFA back in 2009 (thumbs up~~)

Overall, I can't compared this to STCC 2008 because as the theme suggest, it's focus heavily on Anime. I believe it's suffice to satisfied all the Anime fans as the top names/celebrities in Japan Animation Industry were there to support this event.

Bandai has the biggest booth in this show, you can see them as soon you entered the hall.

Impressive and huge gundam on display

Bandai SOC Tetsujin 28 released exclusively in the show?!!~~how to resist??

In the end, i had to hypnotised myself to just buy this single figure set as I've already pre-ordered my Twin pack from my toyshop :(

The medicom booth (by Toys N Toys) was more impressive this time round with more prototype on display. My favorite top-of-the-list is as follows:

NEW 12inch captain harlock (die la, damn chio...pay $$$~!!)

12inch Dragonball Z - Piccolo

12inch Dragonball Z - Son Goku (Super Saiya version)

and these 2 gorgeous babes :P...no la, they were promoting an exclusive AFA's Exclusive "Armoured Core" Model kit. Too bad i don't do models hahaha...

Others includes many toys on clearance sale in which I've already had it in my collection, damnit...a lot of medicom 12inch were selling for only SG$150 manz!!

But not every show is perfect, just a small matter which i must highlight to the organiser :P Kindly have some drinks or snack booth next time, too much walking and googling makes fans, like myself very thirsty and hungry, especially the only drinking vending machine in both halls were all sold out of H2O,  it will be considerate if there's some drink booth next year :P

Score from Hong Kong trip (Nov 2008) - 1/6 scale customised sofa chair for deathnote

This is my last requisition in HK nov. This chair really needs a lot "fate"
Been to this shop at CTMA, level 12 i think for more than 3 times in 3 different trip since 2007 and the shop is either closed if not the owner keeps saying stock arrives next week. Damn frustrated :P
Below is the shop photo i took in 2007.

...really har...1 and a half year in the waiting until I finally found it in a corner shop in CTMA B2 and the lady owner is damn friendly, no need to think just pay lor :)

Excellent details and the material they use is heavy. Mainly polystone and imitate leather i think. (HK$168~damn worth it)

There are two colors, White and Dark Brown body frame. I choose the brown one because i think the white is abit too powdery.

It also comes with an apple and coffee cup

finally my L don't have to squad on the floor :P hehehehe

and yes..Yagami has an apple in hand~~so happy :P

Score from Hong Kong trip (Nov 2008) - Sideshow Toys- 12inch Indiana Jones

Buy~buy~buy!!! cos' am a blind fan of Indy :P I think till date SG still haven't received this figure yet. Got this from ToyHunter (CTMA) without checking prices elsewhere but no choice I really don't have time to run to and fro the same shops...haiz...(HK$680)
Will try to post more pix when I am free to play with it, so just bear with these snapshots for now.

Box Front
Box Back

Content (open flaps) quite nicely designed. The inner flap even got the movie poster illustrated.

The extra hat with fabric lining is for display purpose only, it can't fit to the extra Indy head given (what a waste) But, the whip is so much better. It's bendable and can create different whipping style...yea~!!

(IMHO) i think SS is the overall winner for this figure (other than the likeness) the proportion, clothes accessories, and reasonable price beats the hell out of medicom version.

Here's the summary in my humble review for comparison between SideShow's and Medicom 12inch Indiana Jones :

Accessories: SS
Paint Job: Medicom (SS paint job is too glossy/oily for my taste)
Likeness: Medicom has better sculpt, SS is not bad but their paint job suckzz...
Box Design: SS
Clothes: SS for more playability and trashing, Medicom version has more quality.
Figure: Medicom (cos' SS figure is very loose, always need to change to a better body like Hottoys true type figure)
Playability: SS
Price: SS definitely

Score from Hong Kong trip (Nov 2008) - Japanese Designer Sagawa Fujii (佐川藤井) Spectacles frame

Got this at SINO Center, ground floor (信和中心) for HK$299
Designed by Sagawa Fujii さがわふじ (佐川藤井). It's made of wood and all handcrafted so none is the same, quite unique.
