My review (2/5):
- Fans of the original "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" will not be "pleased"
Its not anywhere closed to the story they've read of. Director adapt & develop his own Zhao Zhi Long(趙雲) story. Good try~~

- Fans of Andy Lau will be pleased!! They will definitely weep during his heroic moments..sob...sob...poor thingy

- Sammo Hung (cast and fight choreographer), haizz...his character in the movie is actually..ahemm...pointless and annoying, maybe he gets a fat cheque in his pocket for doing both parts?? :P...ahem...His 1 to 1 action is great but not the group battles. Everything's close up, blood added here and there, nothing special. You won't know what, who, where. Quite disappointing and visually numb after awhile.

- One worthy cast to look out for, though you think it looks weird:
Guan Yu(關羽) portrayed by HK veteran actor,Di Long 狄龙 .
It's been a long time you've seen this actor in action. Other than his non-matching character design in this movie, his horse riding scene does reminds us of his younger days as a martial art expert.

- Other cast??hmm..Maggie Q, Vanessa Wu??ooo..please..don't make me go into their short cameo and pointless parts.

In general, personally, i think that this movie is just a rip-off before John Woo's "Red Cliff"《赤壁》? maybe-not but still, hopefully, Red Cliff has a better developed script, characters and nicer legendary battle scenes. (cross-fingers)

Red Cliff 《赤壁》
(wiki) alternatively known as The Battle of Red Cliff, is a two-episode Chinese epic film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the Three Kingdoms period in Ancient China. The first episode is expected to be released in 2008. The film is directed by John Woo and stars Chang Chen, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Lin Chi-ling, Zhang Fengyi and Zhao Wei. With an estimated budget of US$80 million, The Battle of Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date.
