JIN JIN Hot/Cold Dessert @ ABC Brickswork Food Centre

Was anticipating a good char-siew Sunday dinner at Fatty Cheong Roast Duck and Meat (肥仔祥烧腊) at ABC market but it was closed (as usual). It's so hard to catch their stall opening during standard dinner hours especially when it's sold out early.
Quite sad, but luckily we found this great dessert stall that cools our graving.

This dessert stall serves cheap, yummy Durian Mango Ice @ SG$2.50
If you're not a fan of durian, there's also plain Mango Ice.

Food glorious food~~yummys in my flicker set

Can't imagines there's so many food in my body for the past 2-3 years :P
All these food photos in my flicker really brings back good memories...just like a famous food blogger says "Never waste your calories on yucky food"

Celebrating the seeds of love on 14-Feb-09

Because i forgot to bring the valentine's candles for dinner, we decided to go on a hawker spree on this day hahaha...:P

The venue: ABC Food Centre
Came a couple of times but i didn't get to taste the ieatshootipost's recommended roast pork, so i hoped it's our lucky day...

Yeah yeah~~it's opened!!
Fatty Cheong Roast Duck and Meat (肥仔祥烧腊)
@ ABC Brickworks Food Centre
6 Jln Bukit Merah #01-120
Open 11am till about 8.30pm
Closed Thursdays

Eggs, Roast Pork and Duck combination (叉烧烧鸭拼盘加卤蛋)

鲜虾水饺 Their prawn dumpling soup is really generous with fresh prawn and ingredient!! yummy...MUST TRY as well~!!

General XMM endorsed it so should I :P

Verdict: Definitely YUMMY~!! Best roast pork (叉烧) I've tasted so far (IMHO die-die "MUST EAT") The meat are timely roasted with some fats on it, quite POWER!! whereas, the roast duck is a bit too dry to my liking. There's a few food gems here as well, will blog about it when we dine here again.

Yummys in China (Shanghai & Beijing)

I think the most stuff i collected from China trip is the food...
China is the best place to be if you have a picky taste bud...all good food can range from very cheap to medium price range depending on your budget. And do take my advice, choose those restaurant that are crowded (means good food) :P Places that are empty, are either bad or unhygienic.

Given a "glorious excuse" during winter period (we need intake a lot of food to replenished our energy), I think i gained at least extra 5kg during my 9 days stay :P

Dinner @ Botan, 牡丹 (Far East Square)

Had family dinner tonight at our favorite Japanese restaurant, BOTAN. I highly recommend this place because they served authentic and traditional Japanese food.

Type: Japanese
Name: BOTAN Japanese Restaurant (牡丹)
Address:
36/37, Pekin Street, #01-01
Far East Square, Singapore 048766, Tel: 6536 4404
Rating: 5/5 (i luv this place)
Price: Medium level

Shopfront

Sushi Bar

My wife ordered the teriyaki chicker dinner set, look at the side dishes...yummy

I ordered a bowl of soup that comes with Japanese grilled rice cake ( 年糕)

Prawn Noodle Shop @ CSC (opp. Spinelli) part 2

Here's part 2 of this eatery. Why? because it's located at toys collector's favorite spot (China Square Central) and nothing beat a good, cheap kopitiam than the cafe opp. them since market's bad recently :P

Previously, i tried their (招牌菜) Prawn Noodles (yummy-nots) but i decided to give it another go for their other dishes. Surprisingly, their soft-boiled eggs and coffee with milk (kopi aka 咖啡) is sumptuous~!! I think the shop owner needs to rethink and revamp their shop name liao...hahaha

Here's a snapshot of the shop on last Saturday while i was waiting for XMM to get-off class.

The full set shown below cost SGD$3.00.
Other than the coffee and eggs tastes quite nice, i will  avoid the toast bread if i am going there another time. See how well they control the timing and textures of the egg?...The eggs looks damn good or maybe even better than Killiney Kopi (IMHO), i don't even need to break the eggs myself. Another quality service noted.

Their soft-boiled eggs are definitely better than their (招牌菜) prawn noodles manz~!!

I think this owner needs to change their menu or the "leading actors"  soon :P

Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao - 翡翠拉面小笼包

There's a reason why this restaurant is always packed, it's because the food is damn good la :P
I've tried almost all the other branches in Singapore including the Taiwan franchise (鼎泰丰) but the Jurong Point Crystal Jade branch taste is the best (IMHO)

Type: Chinese Restaurant
Name: Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao - 翡翠拉面小笼包
Address: Jurong Point (Level 3)
Rating: 5/5 (i like the taste of this branch only)
Price: Medium level (eat once awhile, actually last time i will come once a month :P)

I think the chef here are all from china, last time i asked they make thousands of dumplings in a day...all sold out...wah lau...

It's always packed bros~!! expect to wait at least 10-20mins during dinner time.

Die Die must try>
Soup dumpling (小笼包)
wiki-soup dumpling is a type of baozi (filled bun or bread-like item) from Eastern China, including Shanghai and Wuxi. These buns are traditionally steamed in bamboo baskets, hence the name.
Last time they use white cabbage as the base and now tracing paper?
Times are really so bad har? But luckily the main dish still taste the same.
Here's how i would recommend you eat this dish :P
Bite a tiny hole on the top-tip, suck the soup inside, then add black vinegar and ginger to savour the entire dumpling :P
Each basket contain 5pcs, normally i can eat 3 basket of these only without the noodles. Shiok~!!

Die Die must try>
Fried Pork Ribs La Mian (炸排骨拉面)
My all time favourites
You get a thick steak kinda pork, seasoned and deep fried...woosh...it's really tasty and juicy at the same time.

La Mian (拉面) aka hand-pulled (make) chinese noodle
Bowl of noodles served in clear chicken broth (originated in China)
I never liked the others which is served in different type of soup and ingredients.
I prefer the original so that i can taste the noodle and broth.

Chinese fried pancakes (手拉葱油饼)
aka Muslim Prata :P No la, actually you can taste that the dough is different. It's a much crispy version.

Supper Yummy, AL-AZHAR @ bukit timah road

This has been our recently supper place which is very economic and convenient for the west end boys :P

Type: 24 hour muslim kopitiam (cafe)
Name: AL-AZHAR
Address: bukit timah road (opp. beauty world plaza)
Rating: 4/5, considering it's the best 24hr place to eat in the isolated west end.
Price: Commoner level (which is good for us hahahaha)

Teh Limau (Lime Juice)

Teh Tarik (aka Milk Tea, shaken not stirred) hahaha

Kway Teow Goreng (muslim fried noodles)
The looks is not there but trust me, it's delicious :)

Satay Power (mutton) aka (BBQ/Grilled mutton on a stick)
It's surprisingly quite tasty than your average satay club in city~!!

Plaster (aka muslim pancake with an egg on the top)
The most common dish you will find in a muslim cafe.

Remember to bring some poser buddies/khakis so that you can take their photos after the supper (especially when you are damn bored)...hahaha :P
Poser Subject A

Poser Subject B

fancy some sweets?

Walk past this dessert shop "Dessert Hut" while in people's park center on Friday.
Like the decor, walked in and decided to give their "sweets" a try. Had a bowl of their chef recommended "barley ginkgo" Not bad at all. Their ginkgo nuts and servings are quite generous for a bowl of SG$1.50 :P

Osaka Food Street @ Jurong Point

See too many toys? time to shift your hunger to some food instead...
Jurong Point just open a new food street at the basement (similar to raffles city). Small area and not really a lot of shops, but it's crowded all the time. So this time i just go recce 1st.

Menichi Ramen

Back from HK > food, food, food

yea~~best thing about Hk is you can shop whole day till your leg breaks and still enjoys a good value meal. I love HK "coffeeshop" (茶餐厅) and not those SG imitations, do you?

MeiXin (MX-美心) dinner set meal (HUGE pork chop with chix wings)
The best grilled pork chop I've eaten so far. It's HUGE and feel like eating a steak. It comes with a icy fruits jelly drink. All for only HK$35 (S$6). Beat Macdonald's value meal anytime dudes.

Original HK Ice Lemon Tea( 冻柠茶) > my wife's favorite, it almost has an whole lemon inside.
Better than those KFC lemon tea or any lemon tea we've tasted in SG.

ManJi's Desert > Mango sago cream with pulps (满记甜品>杨支甘露)
SG actually did a decent interpretion for this desert but for the same price, HK is 2 times the portion. Good value.

SeaView's beancurd & youtiao (海景>豆浆+炸两)
The youtiao is actually wrapped with zhu chang fen (猪肠粉), one of my all time favorite in HK. Had this everytime i am there.
